Rodney Nanney is in agreement with the guiding principles outlined by the Citizens for Traditional Values, which include “protecting our God-given, inalienable right to life, from conception through every stage of life.” He has been heard many times on the campaign trail to say:
“I am pro-life from beginning to end. In this age of ObamaCare and threats of healthcare rationing, we conservatives must broaden our scope to include abortion vs. adoption at the beginning of life and ObamaCare rationing vs. healthcare freedom for the elderly and infirm at the other end of our time on earth.”
Beginning of Life
Rodney knows that life begins at conception, and is a strong supporter of adoption as a viable and loving option over the violence and lingering pain of abortion.
Rodney also supports Michigan’s Safe Delivery of Newborns Act, which allows a parent to safely surrender a newborn within 72 hours of birth to any emergency service provider. This act and similar acts in other states have saved lives, both of newborns and the birth mother who might otherwise do something harmful to herself or her child.
As state representative, Rodney would seek to improve the adoption process to eliminate unnecessary delays and reduce costs for Michigan families to adopt. He would also support the complete denial of state funding for Planned Parenthood.
Obamacare vs. Healthcare Freedom
Rodney Nanney and his wife Nanci were asked several years ago to serve as the patient advocates for an elderly friend facing terminal cancer. Rodney and his wife helped their friend successfully fight for life-extending care and medical support, and were there at the end to meet directly with the doctors when their friend no longer could advocate for himself. Rodney knows what it’s like to deal with the pain of end-of-life medical decisions, because he has lived it.
No government bureaucrat should be making healthcare decisions or arbitrarily limiting treatment options for the elderly or Michigan citizens of any age, as would be the case if ObamaCare remains the law of the land. Fortunately, Rodney understands that there are actions that can be taken by the next state legislature to protect healthcare freedom in Michigan.
As state representative, Rodney would sponsor legislation to put the proposed Michigan Healthcare Freedom Amendment to the Michigan Constitution on the ballot. He would also push for and support state efforts under the 9th and 10th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution to protect healthcare freedom for Michigan citizens by turning back the overbearing reach of the federal government under ObamaCare.
