Promote Freedom of Choice in Education

As your next state representative, I will push for reforms to:

 

1. Ensure stable and predictable levels of state revenue sharing for local schools, including implementation of a two-year budget cycle for state government.
2. Empower parents to choose which local school they send their children to regardless of the school district.
3. Promote greater autonomy for individual public schools to develop innovative programs and compete for students.
4. Support the rights of Michigan families to choose to homeschool.
5. Increase the number of public charter schools in Michigan.
6. Create financial and operational incentives for local school districts that reduce costs by consolidating leadership and administrative functions, and sharing or privatizing non-academic services.
7. Eliminate state restrictions and mandates that damage the ability of local public schools to effectively compete for students.
